A highly sought-after early model, Leica M2 with the popular button rewind. This particular unit, serial number 930,000, was manufactured in 1958 with the product code KOOHE.
This model lacks a self-timer and features finely detailed frame lines in the viewfinder. The rewind button locks when pressed, and it has a small tripod thread. The bright frame displays for 35mm, 50mm, and 90mm lenses appear individually. The slim vertical slotted film loading windows give it a more modern impression compared to later versions of the M2.
Button or lever – that's the only difference, yet it significantly affects the overall impression. Paired with favorite 35mm or 50mm lenses or a Leicavit MP, it becomes a desirable set. Especially when matched with a Steel Rim or an 8-element lens, the combination creates an irresistible aesthetic.
Finding a pristine early M2 can be quite challenging, but this unit stands out as exceptionally clean. All parts, including the vulcanite, are original.
While there are slight signs of wear on the mount and strap lug, overall, the body is in remarkably good condition with minimal signs of use.
In May 2024, a thorough inspection and adjustment of all components were performed, resulting in smooth operation of the shutter, film advance, and other functions. The viewfinder provides a clear and crisp image.
This M2 is in impeccable condition, suitable for any collection. It comes with the original body cap and a genuine sync cap from that era.
