Miranda T + Zunow 50mm f1.9
Miranda T. With standard lens Zuiko 5cm f1.9. The first produced Japanese pentaprism-type 35mm SLR camera released in August 1955. It was introduced as a commercial model following the prototype Phoenix, which was released the previous year. The lens mount features a unique 44mm screw mount and an outer 4-claw bayonet mount.
The included lens is the Zunow 50mm f1.9. 7 elements in 4 groups. The minimum focusing distance is approximately 45cm. It comes with preset aperture control. Besides this lens, the Supreme 105mm f2.8 was also available at the time of release. Additionally, it appears that an adapter for Exakta mount lenses was initially provided, taking advantage of the short flange focal distance.
There are minor scratches and signs of wear on the pentaprism and bottom plate.
In 2024, the camera underwent shutter adjustment, finder cleaning, and lubrication of mechanical parts. However, flash synchronization has not been serviced. The finder provides a clear view with a clean prism and screen.
The lens fully serviced, including focus adjustment. The aperture and helicoid operation are superb. However, noticeable haze is present on the rear surface of the front element due to glass degradation. Under certain conditions such as backlighting, there may be a consistent decrease in contrast.
Additionally, please note that the rear element surface slightly protrudes from the mount surface, so please handle with care when placing the lens on a tabletop.
As the haze could not be removed from the lens, it is offered at a discounted price. It remains a cornerstone of Japanese camera history and a suitable addition to any collection.
