※About rarity

Nikkor-S.C 5cm f1.4, Leica Screw Mount.
This lens is the later model with a black-painted aperture ring. It is marked in feet. Supplied for domestic Leica copies like the Leotax, this Nikkor is a Sonnar-type lens with a 3-group, 7-element configuration, similar to the Nikon S 50mm f1.4 for rangefinder cameras.

The rangefinder coupling operates up to approximately 3.5 feet (about 1 meter) for close focusing. Extending the helicoid further allows focusing from approximately 3.5 feet to as close as 1.5 feet (about 45cm), though this close range is non-rangefinder coupled, suitable for estimated or live-view focusing in the digital age, offering good usability.

From wide open to f2, it delivers a distinctive, quite soft rendering, while stopping down to f4 rapidly enhances sharpness. Overall, it's a lens that provides a delightful shooting experience.

There is a slight rubbing on the mirror barrel, but no prominent scratches or dents, presenting a clean exterior with chrome plating shining brightly.

The aperture and helicoid rings operate smoothly. Focus is good, and the rangefinder coupling works perfectly.

There is minor coating deterioration on the middle element of the glass, but it does not significantly affect image quality. Results from practical shooting tests were positive. You can fully enjoy the delicate, soft rendering at wide apertures and the crispness when stopped down that characterize this lens.

Includes an original Y44 yellow filter. Perfect for monochrome photography as well.
