A set comprising the earliest Nikon F and the Nikkor-S 50mm f/2 lens.
The serial number of the Nikon F is 6400964, a number that resonates with some fans of air-cooled Porsches. The first 1000 units of the early Nikon F bodies were not generally available to the public; instead, they were supplied to press agencies and photographers. This item may be one of those units. It features a titanium shutter curtain, and its sync contacts have been upgraded to the later D-type. The finder mounting pin is of the triangular type.
The Nikkor-S Auto 50mm f/2 lens with the checkmark has the serial number 520333. This lens started from 520101, making this item the 232nd lens produced. Additionally, the distance scale on the helicoid is marked in meters, albeit slightly fewer markings.
A rare set with matching body and lens, perfect for collectors.
There are slight abrasions on various parts, including the bottom plate, but no significant dents or scratches are noticeable, giving the impression that it has been well used.
In March 2024, both the body and lens were serviced. All functions are in good working order. The eyepiece level finder shows some dot-like corrosion, but it does not affect visibility.
Unfortunately, there are significant traces of fungus on the rear element surface of the lens, but it has been cleaned, so it is unlikely to progress further.
Comes with caps and original box. A rare find.
