This is a wide-angle lens from Nippon Kogaku. The W-Nikkor-C 3.5cm f3.5, introduced in 1948 for the Nikon S series, is a later model with an aluminum body finished in black paint. The lens features a Tessar-type design with a 3-group, 4-element configuration, and has distance markings in feet. Weighing just 100g, it is lightweight, with a filter diameter of 43mm.
Its bowl-shaped design eliminates the need for a lens hood, showcasing one of the strengths of wide-angle lenses for Nikon RF series cameras. The lens looks stylish when mounted on a camera and features an excellent design. Although it is somewhat dimmer, its lightweight and user-friendly nature make it ideal for daytime snap shooting and various other applications.
The lens is in excellent condition overall. It would be like-new if not for some slight wear on the mount lock lever. The paint still retains a semi-gloss finish, just like new.
The lens has been overhauled. The focusing and aperture rings operate very smoothly. It has been checked for focus accuracy with a Nikon S body in our shop and is confirmed to be in sync with the rangefinder.
The glass shows a few very light cleaning marks on the front element, but these have minimal impact on actual photography. There are no signs of haze or balsam separation, and the glass remains clear and bright.
The lens comes with the original front and rear caps. The rear cap has a slight dent on the bottom, but this does not affect its functionality.
