Nikon New F. Serial number 7,430,000. Chrome finish. It is believed to have been manufactured around 1973.
Renowned for its high reliability, a rich and high-quality range of lenses, and comprehensive accessories, the Nikon F became the world standard and this is its final model.
The Nikon F was introduced in 1959 with serial number 6400001, and over time underwent various changes throughout its body. From the latter half of serial number 72xxxxx, it began using resin covers on the film advance lever and self-timer lever, becoming known as the New F model. It remains a tough and actively used single-lens reflex camera that Japan proudly boasts.
This item has been almost a one-owner camera since new. It has been meticulously stored for many years and is in outstanding condition.
There are very minor scuffs on the plastic frame around the viewfinder eyepiece, but otherwise, the body is very clean with no signs of use.
There are no visible marks from lens mounting or detachment on the mount, indicating minimal use. The chrome plating retains its original beautiful shine from when it was first sold.
In July 2024, the mirror and prism of the viewfinder were replaced, and maintenance was performed. The shutter curtains are also clean, and all parts operate smoothly.
There are no vertical lines in the prism, which are sometimes seen in F series finders, allowing for a clear view typical of the New F.
It comes with the original box with matching serial number, Japanese instruction manual, and body cap. Also included are a film face cover and a plastic bottom cover (with paper attached). This makes it a suitable choice for collectors as well.
