※About rarity

This is a very clean example of the Leica IIIg. Leitz product code: GOOEF. Serial number in the 870,000 range, manufactured in 1957.

The IIIg was introduced in 1957 as the final model in the Barnack Leica series. Released after the Leica M3, it reflects not only the functional refinement of its era but also the peak craftsmanship of Leica’s golden age.

It is the only Barnack Leica to feature built-in parallax-corrected bright-line frames for both 50mm and 90mm lenses. The viewfinder clarity is outstanding, making it by far the most user-friendly model among all Barnack Leicas.

This camera shows extremely minimal signs of use and has an exceptionally clean appearance. Apart from a couple of extremely faint scuffs near the logo engraving on the top cover and around the flash sync terminal, it retains a near-new level of beauty. The baseplate is also remarkably clean—truly eye-catching.

It underwent a full overhaul in May 2025, including shutter curtain replacement. All mechanical operations are now exceptionally smooth, and the view through the finder is crystal clear.

A superb piece, well-suited for both use and collection.
