Leica IIIg—the final model and the pinnacle of the Barnack Leica series. Its Leitz product code is GOOEF, and it features a fine-thread tripod mount.
With a serial number in the 860,000 range, this camera was manufactured in 1957, during the golden age of postwar Leica production, alongside models such as the Leica MP and the military olive green M3.
Designed and built without compromise, its exceptional quality is mesmerizing to behold. Incorporating M3 technology, it features parallax-corrected bright frames for 50mm and 90mm lenses. The viewfinder is superbly clear, making this the most user-friendly Barnack Leica ever made.
This particular unit shows some signs of use but has been fully serviced and is in excellent working condition—perfect for practical use.
There is a dent near the lower part of the rangefinder window on the front right side of the top cover, and a mark on the top of the strap lug on the film advance knob side. It's a shame, considering the otherwise relatively good exterior condition.
Overhauled in February 2025, the camera has been finely tuned, and all operations are smooth and precise.
The viewfinder offers the crisp clarity unique to the IIIg, with a well-defined double image in the rangefinder for accurate focusing.
Carefully serviced and in excellent working order, this IIIg is an affordable option you can use with confidence. Enjoy shooting without hesitation!
