Canon-made. A set comprising the Canon 200mm f3.5 lens and the Mirror Box Type I. The lens has a 5-element, 7-group design. Included are the dedicated carry case, release, caps, and lens hood. The dehumidifying silica gel in its original cloth pouch adds a nice touch of nostalgia.
The Mirror Box Type I was introduced in June 1957, but by July of the following year, the Canon M 200mm and the Mirror Box Type II with a pentaprism were released. The production period for this setup was short, making it a rather rare lens and mirror box combination.
Both the lens and mirror box have the Leica L-mount. Using an LM adapter, you can mount the mirror box on an M-type Leica for shooting. We have tested it with our Leica M10-P body.
Essentially, it's like a set that combines a Leica Tele-Elmar 200mm, a Biso Flex Type I, and an OZWTO double cable release. A somewhat rare set.
The set is in very clean condition with minimal signs of use. The paint on the mirror box is still glossy. The lens hood and carrying case show some signs of use.
In July 2024, the lens glass and the optical system of the mirror box were cleaned, the lens helicoid grease was replaced, and the mirror lock mechanism was adjusted. All parts are functioning smoothly. We have connected the set to a digital mirrorless camera and confirmed that it performs well and focuses accurately at infinity.
The glass shows no noticeable cleaning marks and is clear and free of fog. This set is also suitable for collectors!
