※About rarity
This is a post-war Carl Zeiss Jena Biometar 5.8cm lens with an M42 mount. While many models feature a white barrel, this particular one boasts a sleek black barrel. The lens is designed with a Gauss type configuration, consisting of 6 elements in 4 groups. With T-coating. Distance markings are in meters. Its soft rendering at maximum aperture and rich bokeh quality can truly be called characteristics of a classic old lens. The nearly circular aperture blades are meticulously crafted, enhancing the overall quality. The lens uses an aluminum barrel, making it lightweight at just 148 grams, a pleasantly surprising feature. Its compact size makes it easy to carry around. With its versatile M42 mount, you can enjoy this lens on various cameras using an adapter. Includes the original rear lens cap. This lens is in very good condition with minimal signs of use. It was professionally overhauled in April 2024, improving the smoothness of the aperture and helicoid. Although there are some light cleaning marks on the front and middle elements and some coating damage around the middle element, it remains in better condition than many other Biotar lenses. The lens has tested well in practical shoots, with sample images available in our gallery.
