Serial number in the 1.07 million range. A Leica M1 manufactured in 1963. Leitz product code KOOCT, catalog no. 10125M.
This model is essentially an M2 with the rangefinder and self-timer omitted. It was originally produced for uses that did not require a rangefinder, such as military applications and scientific or technical work, but it is also appealing to Visoflex users and wide-angle lens enthusiasts.
The viewfinder permanently displays 50mm and 35mm framelines, with parallax correction applied.
Early M1 bodies included versions with a button rewind, just like early M2 models. Some were finished in olive paint and delivered to the German military. With a total production of just under 10,000 units, the M1 is a comparatively low-production model.
Some light scuffs can be seen on the top cover and bottom plate, but there are no dents or impact marks. There is a repaired area on the guttapercha on the left side of the back, however the covering is original over the entire body.
Overhauled in January 2026. Film advance, shutter, and other operations are smooth, and the viewfinder is bright and clear.
An ideal camera to use without hesitation. Mount your favorite lens and enjoy it as a snap shooter.
