Nikkor-P.C 8.5cm f/2 – Leica Screw Mount
This is the early version with a chrome barrel. Distance scale is in feet. It features a 3-group, 5-element optical design and a straight helicoid. The lens alone weighs 423g.

Often regarded as a copy of the Zeiss Sonnar 85mm f/2 for Contax rangefinders, this lens earned its legendary status when LIFE magazine correspondent David Douglas Duncan used it during the Korean War. His glowing praise helped reveal the excellence of Japanese-made lenses to the world, making this a truly historic and iconic piece of optical design.

This is a previously sold item from our shop, carefully used by the customer and now returned to us once again.

There are two very minor scuff marks — one on the knurled section of the helicoid and another on the upper edge of the knurled base — but otherwise, the lens remains in excellent cosmetic condition with no noticeable blemishes.

The lens was overhauled in 2023, and the aperture and focusing action remain smooth and responsive.
The glass shows only the faintest hint of coating deterioration, but no prominent cleaning marks or haze — it's bright, clear, and in excellent optical condition. You can fully enjoy the classic rendering the 8.5cm Nikkor is known for.

Rangefinder coupling and focus accuracy are spot-on. The lens delivers sharp, powerful images even at full aperture — classic Nikkor performance at its best. It remains in the same great condition as when it was last sold.

The original hood, which sandwiches a Walz Series 7 SL filter, shows one noticeable scuff, but the set includes the original front cap, viewfinder, leather case, and matching serial-numbered blue velvet-lined box — a rare and stunning presentation. The included finder also bears the L mark on the bottom of the shoe.

This is a truly complete set — a fantastic piece for any serious collection.
